Rabiot winner lifts AC Milan to second in Serie A
AC Milan moved back to second in Serie A after Adrien Rabiot's goal proved decisive in a 1-0 away win over Hellas Verona.
Massimiliano Allegri's side had lost its last two league games, but responded well with a narrow victory that lifted it above Napoli.
The Rossoneri are still 12 points behind leader Inter with five games remaining, with the Scudetto race effectively over barring a minor miracle.
A quiet first half was brought to life four minutes before the break when Rafael Leao capitalised on Verona's lapse in possession before teeing up Rabiot to finish coolly from inside the area.
Verona had a chance to respond soon after, though Mike Maignan read Rafik Belghali's intentions and pushed away his curling finish after the striker went clean through on goal.
Substitute Ioan Vermesan kept Maignan alert with a long-range drive in the second half, before whipping narrowly wide after beating the Milan goalkeeper from a similar distance.
A huge Matteo Gabbia block stopped Gift Orban from levelling with six minutes remaining as Milan held on for a crucial three points.
