AC Milan undone after Tomori red card
AC Milan suffered a 2-0 loss to Sassuolo at the MAPEI Stadium Citta del Tricolore, with Fikayo Tomori being shown two yellow cards before the 24th minute.
Domenico Berardi put Milan under the pump after just five minutes, opening the scoring with a superb curling effort into the bottom corner after a neat combination with Armand Lauriente.
The Neroverdi came close to a second two minutes later as M'Blala Nzola's shot was saved by Mike Maignan, though Tomori received the first of his two bookings shortly after.
The England defender then brought down Lauriente near the halfway line to stop a fast break, resulting in his second yellow card and sending off, which put Milan in a frustrating position.
Lauriente added to his already impactful performance with a strong goal from the edge of the area just two minutes after the restart to add to Milan's woes, driving a low shot past Maignan, who could not keep it out despite getting a hand on the ball.
Nzola and Kristian Thorstvedt squandered further chances as Sassuolo pushed for a third, though Milan managed to keep the scoreline down.
