Amorim unclear on availability of AFCON trio
Ruben Amorim revealed that he does not know whether Bryan Mbeumo, Amad Diallo and Noussair Mazraoui will be available for Manchester United’s next Premier League fixture, against Bournemouth.
The United trio is set to travel to the Africa Cup of Nations, which starts later this month, leaving Amorim uncertain if it will be able to take part against the Cherries.
Mbeumo is also United’s top scorer in the league this season, finding the back of the net six times while providing one assist.
United is winless in its past four Premier League games against Bournemouth, losing twice and drawing twice.
Amorim said the situation was far from ideal, but believes it could also have some benefits for his side.
“We are still in conversation with the national teams,” the United boss said.
“The game is Monday [Tuesday AEDT], they are here and they are training and we are trying to prepare all the different scenarios.
“It is frustrating [not knowing who is available]. But nobody knows who is going to play, so it is a good thing.
“We have players to cope with everything. With a long week, you have time to prepare.”
United has lost just one of its past nine Premier League games, winning five of those but going down 1-0 at home to Everton.
However, Bournemouth has won its past two Premier League away games against United, beating it 3-0 on both occasions.
No side has ever won three in a row away against the Red Devils in the top-flight while scoring three or more goals each time.
