Oliveira appointed as Strasbourg manager
Hugo Oliveira is hoping to help continue Strasbourg's upward trajectory after he was announced as the Ligue 1 side's new manager ahead of the 2026-2027 season.
Oliveira has put pen to paper on a reported three-year contract, and comes in to replace Gary O'Neil, who joined newly-promoted Premier League outfit Ipswich Town last month.
The 47 year-old arrives fresh from leading Famalicao to a fifth-place finish in the Primeira Liga last season and just missing out on a spot in the Conference League.
Oliveira previously spent seven years in the Premier League as a member of Marco Silva's coaching staff at Fulham, Everton, Hull City and Watford.
He also served as the goalkeeping coach with Portugal's national team from 2009 to 2011 and held the same role at Benfica between 2011 and 2016.
"It is an honour to be here in Strasbourg and to join such a beautiful project, where history and ambition are in perfect harmony," Oliveira said.
"I want to bring emotions, create memories and give the best of myself to help the club continue to develop."
Oliveira comes in to replace O'Neil, who led Strasbourg to the semi-finals of the Conference League as well as an eighth-place finish in Ligue 1, narrowly missing out on a return to Europe by just one point to Monaco.
Reports in Portugal suggested Oliveira was considered to replace Silva at Fulham after his departure to Benfica, but the Cottagers chose to appoint Alvaro Arbeloa instead.
Strasbourg begins its Ligue 1 season against Marseille on 21 August.
