Luis Enrique admits PSG's display at Brest was worst of the season
Paris Saint-Germain finally got into the win column in Ligue 1 this season, but Luis Enrique was far from satisfied with their performance.
PSG started their Ligue 1 campaign with back-to-back 2-2 draws with Rennes and Lille, before losing 2-1 at home against Monaco.
However, Ferran Torres' early strike against Brest secured the Parisiens their first league win of the season, despite an unconvincing display.
Brest won the expected goals (xG) battle 1.62 to 1.16, created more Opta-defined big chances (three to two) and also hit the woodwork.
Nevertheless, Luis Enrique acknowledged the importance of the win, even if PSG's display was far from perfect.
"It鈥檚 a very important win," said the Spaniard.
"Before the match, we already knew it was going to be a difficult and tight game, as usual, every time we play here. But we started the match very well and managed to score that goal.
"I would have liked us to have had more control over the game, but it was difficult. In the second half, we made a lot of mistakes, and it was very tough.
"I think we were less good tonight than in the first three league matches, but unlike in those games, we came away with all three points. That鈥檚 football."
PSG goalkeeper Matvey Safonov, meanwhile, felt he produced his best performance of the season.
Safonov prevented 1.62 goals for PSG tonight according to Opta's xG model, the highest tally for a PSG goalkeeper in Ligue 1 since Gianluigi Donnarumma against Nantes in February 2024 (2.00).
PSG kept their first clean sheet of the season in their seventh match in all competitions, their longest wait for a first clean sheet since the 2004-05 campaign (10 games).
When asked if this was his best match in 2026-27 so far, Safonov said: "Yes, I think so.
"For me, it was very important after those first few draws. Not conceding a goal is better.
"We didn't have many chances at the start of the season. We didn't concede many shots, but we conceded a lot of goals.
"We changed that situation a bit because Brest had several opportunities to score, but we avoided all their attacks.
"I'm a bit happier than usual because I didn't concede a goal, and that was important, for the first time this season."
