Nuno says improving West Ham on track
West Ham manager Nuno Espirito Santo is confident his side is improving with every game, as he and his players look to secure a third successive Championship win away at Bolton Wanderers Wednesday.
After starting the league campaign with away draws at Burnley and Watford, either side of a home defeat by Charlton Athletic, the Hammers have earned six points from six in their last two outings, against Wolverhampton Wanderers and Derby County.
Goals from summer signings Joel Piroe and Edvin Austbo, as well as Mohamadou Kante’s first senior strike for the club, earned the full share of the spoils against the Rams, lifting the Hammers to eighth in the second-tier table and just three points off the top.
A third match in a week offers another quick opportunity to strengthen our push for immediate promotion back to the Premier League, and Nuno is looking to build on the positives of the last two wins on the road in the north-west.
Santo said a hectic schedule over the next fortnight is no excuse for a lapse in form as his team looks to improve on its consistency.
"We are going to continue working from now until the next game against Bolton," he said. "After that we’re going to work on Wednesday and Thursday, before we play against Wrexham on Friday.
"Then we play again the following Tuesday, so we have a lot of work to do.
"I think there has been an improvement in defence. If we compare Derby to our previous game, and dealing with the direct ball, I think the guys did really, really well.
"They are doing their job, and this is what we need. They will be ready to go again against Bolton on Tuesday night."
