Ballard scores debut blinder in Bristol draw
Dom Ballard scored what could be one of the goals of the season as he announced himself to Bristol City fans on is debut with an outrageous backheel into the top corner in a 2-2 EFL Championship draw with Birmingham City.
Bristol City had taken the lead in the 33rd minute through Scott Twine, but the scores were level at half-time after Robins goalkeeper Sam Tickle was unfortunate to deflect the ball in his own net to gift Birmingham a leveller.
Ballard's moment came in the 85th minute when he powered home a backheel flick from Rio Cardines's flat cross, sending the ball flying into the top corner beyond the reach of a diving James Beadle in the Birmingham goal.
But despite coming so late in the game, Ballard's stunner wasn't enough to win as a clumsy foul in the box in stoppage-time game Demarai Gray the chance to equalise from the spot, and he didn't let his side down, scoring in the 95th minute to earn his side a point.
