Ramsey's management journey inspired by Arteta
Aaron Ramsey has said his former Arsenal team-mate Mikel Arteta has inspired him to start a management career.
Ramsey played with Arteta at between 2011 and 2016, with the pair winning the FA Cup twice against Hull City and Aston Villa, respectively.
Having started studying for his professional licence, Ramsey is hopeful he can emulate the success Arteta has had during his seven-year tenure with Arsenal so far.
"It is inspiring because Mikel was here [studying] around 10 years ago, in the same position starting his journey," Ramsey said.
"That's inspiring for us, to see him 10 years later, lifting the Premier League and in the [UEFA] Champions League final.
"I want to win all the big things in the game. That's the goal, that's the target – to get as good as I can to make that a reality."
Former Wales international Ramsey called time on his playing career earlier this year, having had his contract mutually terminated by Pumas UNAM in October 2025.
Ramsey has been a part of the Wales set-up under Craig Bellamy, whose team missed out on a spot at the 2026 FIFA World Cup after losing to Bosnia-Herzegovina in the play-offs.
He had a brief stint as Cardiff City's interim boss at the end of the 2024-2025 campaign, failing to win any of his three games in charge as the Bluebirds were relegated from the second tier.
Having had a break since making his most recent playing appearance last September, Ramsey says he wants to return to football.
"It's not in my DNA to just put my feet up," Ramsey added.
"I feel ready, but that all depends on the opportunity, doesn't it? So what that will look like will be different from different clubs, different age groups and all of that.
"For me, I feel ready to coach, to manage, to be inspiring to a group of players, and we'll see what comes up."
