Sports Burst – Neymar’s Just Desserts
Neymar’s race against time, Napoli’s snow business and a Bolt from the blue

1) Twisted ankle sees Neymar facing fitness battle
Making fun of opposition players and balancing cleats on your forehead – two on-pitch pastimes for Neymar - is eventually going to upset the mean-spirited footballing gods.
A turned ankle for Neymar in Sunday’s win over Marseille has put PSG’s prized possession struggling to be fit for next week’s crucial Champions League clash against Real Madrid.
After all, nobody but the Brazilian can run so well into blind alleys and fail to pass to Edinson Cavani in the really big matches. Despite Neymar posting a picture of his leg in quite the state on Sunday night, Emery is optimistic that Neymar will be ready in time for the match-up where PSG are 3-1 down.
Heck, even Coach Zizou over in Madrid is hoping for the best in Neymar’s one-legged race against time. “I will never want a rival player to be injured,” offered the Real Madrid manager speaking ahead of Tuesday’s league clash at Espanyol.
Find out if our Locker Room panel feel that Neymar can be ready in time and if PSG can overcome Real Madrid without their talisman. It’s straight after the XTRA at 7:30PM ET / 4:30PM PT.
2) Bayern to let Lewa move to Madrid with James bond
Staying on a sort of Real Madrid theme and a curious transfer rumor is leaking out of the Spanish media. It’s that Bayern Munich could be persuaded in letting Robert Lewandowski go to the Santiago Bernabeu – a bad idea for the Bavarians, in theory – by using James Rodriguez as a make-weight.
Lewa has always expressed his desire to play for Madrid while James is now expressing his desire for not playing for Madrid anytime soon, not exactly seeing eye-to-eye with Zinedine Zidane in his time in the Spanish capital. The Colombian is thriving at Bayern on a two-year loan deal that could be made permanent this summer if a deal with Bayern’s super-striker could be done.
3) Napoli to take advantage of Juve snow day
Seeing as Juventus were given a snow day on Sunday after the Old Lady’s matchup with Atalanta was called off – and a Chicago-style ‘Dibs’ fight between Gonzalo Higuain and Gigi Buffon in the stadium parking lot – league-leading Napoli have a chance to build up a points-cushion on Monday. The supreme Serie A side are at Cagliari and live on beIN SPORTS at 2:40PM ET / 11:40AM PT.
The weekend in La Liga wraps up on Monday with a relegation-threatened Levante against a Betis side that is one of the most entertaining on the planet with a ‘score 5, concede 5’ attitude to football. Head to beIN SPORTS ESPANYOL at 3PM ET / 12PM PT for all the action.
Elsewhere in the wacky world of the beautiful game, Borussia Dortmund can really put pressure on Bayern Munich at the top of the table. A win against visiting Augsburg would draw Christian Pulisic’s side to within 17-points of the summit. And Turkey-tag can continue in the Superlig if Istanbul Basaksehir can overcome Genclerbirligi to leapfrog Galatasaray at the top of the standings.
Tune into the XTRA at 7PM ET / 4PM PT for the best of the action from around the planet.
4) Bolt from the blue as Usain reveals new job as soccer player
Usain Bolt has a new career it seems, and it is as a professional soccer player.
The sprinting legend who retired from the track last year has always been a keen soccer-lover, a huge Manchester United fan and has claimed that he has had 12 offers from clubs to undergo a trial with them. One of those was reportedly Borussia Dortmund.
But now the story has progressed a little with Lightening Bolt revealing that he has signed for a professional team and will reveal the name of it on Tuesday. Perhaps Arsenal fans are going to have some good news this week? Probably at tad quicker than Shkodran Mustafi anyway.
