Louis van Gaal has urged Manchester United fans to be patient with new signing Memphis Depay when he joins the club this summer.
The Netherlands international is set to join the club from PSV this summer and the Red Devils boss has urged the club's fans to give him time to adapt to life in England
United have agreed a deal to sign the Netherlands international from PSV, with Depay completing a medical in Manchester on Monday.
But Van Gaal has warned supporters that the 21-year-old will need time to adapt to life in the Premier League, and also says that he intends to continue blooding young players in the starting XI next season.
"Memphis Depay [is] a young player who has come through the PSV academy system," Van Gaal wrote in the United Review.
"I worked with Memphis during last summer's World Cup with the Netherlands and he has great potential.
"The plan is to help him develop as a player, but we must all be patient. The Premier League is very different from any other league and it will take time for him to fully adapt to the pace and unforgiving nature of football in this country.'
"Youth is very important to this club and is a very big part of my philosophy as a manager.
"We have a number of young players in our first-team squad who have benefitted from experiencing first-team football this season and that will help their development going into next season."
Depay has scored 28 goals in 2014-15, and won the Johan Cruyff Trophy for the best young player in the Eredivisie on Tuesday.
