Mexican forward Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez is yet to appear in an official match for Bayer Leverkusen, but he's already winning praise from his new club teammates.
"This is a great thing," team captain Lars Bender told Bild about Chicharito's arrival. "We gained quality with him. A player like him moving here shows how we have become more appealing and attractive in a sporting sense."
The 27-year-old moved from Manchester United to the Bundesliga outfit on deadline day and is expected to play a critical role as Bayer looks to continue the type of form that earned it a Champions League place for 2015-16.
"He is a great player," forward Stefan Kiessling added. "He is quick and can help us confuse our opponents,"
For 23-year-old goalkeeper Bernd Leno, bringing in a player like Chicharito who has played in the Champions League can help the Bundesliga side in a difficult Champions League group that includes Barcelona and Roma.
"Bayer worked hard in the last years to get a good reputation in Europe. Now he brings much experience into our young team," Leno said.
