Carlos Ruiz and Hamilton Lopez have been cleared to travel to the United States and play for Guatemala in Tuesday night's World Cup qualifier, the Guatemala FA has announced.
Both players started Friday's 2-0 win over the U.S. national team, with Ruiz scoring the second goal. The pair was expected to miss the return match in Columbus, Ohio, because of legal issues that would have prevented them from traveling to the United States. In Ruiz's case, it was a dispute over rent payments.
Ruiz, 37, is his country's all-time leading scorer with 60 international goals. Lopez, 32, started at center back against the U.S. on Friday.
After Guatemala's shocking win Friday, Jurgen Klinsmann has branded Tuesday night's game a must-win for his team.
