But it took a remarkable finish for Rea to secure victory.
Leading riders swapped places at the front with Rea and Haslam battling for victory, but the former eventually came out on top.
Jordi Torres (Aprilia) and Michael van der Mark (Honda) rounded out the top five.

Haslam would get a victory in the second race, edging Rea and Davies after another entertaining final lap.
His first win since 2010 came as his speed proved too much for Rea down the straight.
Davies again finished third.
