Colin Munro Inspires New Zealand In Twenty20 International Win Over Sri Lanka
Colin Munro hit an incredible 50 off 14 balls, the second-fastest half-century in T20 international history.
New Zealand claimed their Twenty20 international series against Sri Lanka with a crushing nine-wicket win in the second and final game on Sunday.
Colin Munro stole the show, hitting the second fastest half-century in T20 history via an unbeaten 50 off 14 balls, while Martin Guptill (63 off 25 balls) also helped the Black Caps chase down Sri Lanka's score of 142-8 inside 10 overs.
Munro hit seven sixes in his half-century, with captain Kane Williamson (32 not out) contributing to the successful chase at Eden Park in Auckland.
Williamson elected to bowl after winning the toss, with Sri Lanka losing wickets early in the contest.
Angelo Mathews was a highlight for the Sri Lankan's - posting a career-high 81 not out - but he was let down by his team-mates, with only Tillakaratne Dilshan (28) reaching double figures.
Grant Elliott played an integral part in limiting the Sri Lankan's, with the all-rounder taking 4-22 off his four overs.
Mitchell Santner (2-24) and fast bowler Adam Milne (2-36) grabbed the other wickets for the Black Caps.
Sri Lanka managed to post a reasonable score considering woeful efforts from a number of their batsmen, but they proved no match for the home side.
Munro and Guptill combined for an 89-run partnership after 6.4 overs, before Williamson came in and combined with Munro for a 53-run partnership in just 3.2 overs to close the series.
