Brian Madjo, just 17 years and 212 days old, wrote his name into the history books of European football.

The Aston Villa forward scored against Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in the 2026 UEFA Super Cup, becoming the youngest goalscorer in the history of European finals.

Madjo found the back of the net in the 45th minute, leveling the match for the Villans after Georgian star Khvicha Kvaratskhelia had put the French side ahead.

Brian Madjo Breaks a 68-Year-Old Record

At 17 years and 212 days, Madjo surpassed a record that had stood for decades. The previous mark belonged to legendary English striker Jimmy Greaves, who scored at 18 years and 13 days in the 1958 Inter-Cities Fairs Cup.

The historic list also includes Marijan Čerček, who scored at 18 years and 208 days in 1967; Ray Kennedy, who found the net at 18 years and 268 days in 1970; and Patrick Kluivert, who scored at 18 years and 327 days in the 1995 European Cup.

With his historic strike, the young Aston Villa forward ended a 68-year reign at the top of the record books.

Another European Record for Madjo

Madjo’s achievement goes beyond his historic goal. At 17 years and 212 days, he also became the youngest player to start a European final.

The only finalists to appear in a European final at a younger age were Ronald de Boer with Ajax, who was 17 years and 193 days old in 1987, and PSG’s Ibrahim Mbaye, who was 17 years and 201 days old in 2025. However, both players came on as substitutes.

Madjo, meanwhile, was trusted by Unai Emery to start from the opening whistle—and he responded with a historic goal.
