Who is emerging as Denzel Dumfries’ replacement at Inter Milan?
Filling the void left by the Real Madrid signing at the Serie A giants will be no easy task.
Inter Milan is making headlines in the transfer market as the Italian club searches for a player capable of filling the huge void left by Denzel Dumfries.
The leading candidate appears to be Djed Spence, the Tottenham full-back, with Inter already negotiating for the Englishman and reportedly edging closer to an agreement.

Djed Spence closing in on Inter move
Spence’s name has gained significant momentum in recent hours and has emerged as Inter’s top transfer target, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
Negotiations with the Spurs have intensified, with a deal potentially worth around €30 million ($35 million), plus add-ons. The transfer has yet to be finalized, but the two sides are reportedly moving closer to an agreement.
The 26-year-old Englishman is viewed as an ideal fit for Inter’s tactical system. His ability to operate as both a full-back and wing-back, combined with his pace and physical strength, matches the demands of an Inter side looking to regain its prominence in Italy and across Europe.
The difficult task of replacing Dumfries
Dumfries’ move to Real Madrid left a significant hole in Inter’s squad.
The Dutchman made 207 appearances, scored 27 goals, provided 28 assists and won eight trophies during his time at Inter. His transfer to the Spanish giants was completed in July after Real Madrid triggered his release clause.
Replacing him will be no easy task. Inter need a player capable of providing width, stamina, attacking threat and defensive commitment on the right flank.
Inter need to get the signing right to return to Europe’s elite
Spence’s potential arrival takes on even greater importance given the current direction of the Inter Milan project. The club is determined to challenge for major trophies again and needs to strengthen a key position in order to rediscover its best form.
The Englishman already has experience in Serie A after spending time on loan at Genoa, an experience that could help ease his transition to Italian football.
If the deal is completed, Djed Spence will be tasked with filling the void left by Dumfries and becoming a key part of Inter’s bid to return to the top tier of European football.
