Inter Very Close to Signing Djed Spence
Inter Milan is one step away from strengthening its defense with one of the English players who impressed during the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
According to Mundo Deportivo, the Italian club has reached an agreement with Tottenham for Djed Spence, the 26-year-old full-back who would return to Serie A after spending six months with Genoa in 2024.
The deal is reportedly almost complete, pending an official announcement.
Inter would pay around €35 million: €31 million guaranteed plus another €4 million in add-ons.
Spence Set for Italy Return After Impressive World Cup
Djed Spence was part of the England team that finished third at the 2026 World Cup, its best performance since winning the tournament in 1966.
The full-back featured in eight matches during the tournament and started four of them, becoming an important option for the English side.
His speed is one of his biggest strengths. Spence can cover the entire flank, attack open spaces and constantly push into the final third, qualities that could fit perfectly with an Inter side accustomed to giving its wing-backs significant attacking responsibility.
He also knows Italian soccer from his spell with Genoa, meaning his adaptation to Serie A would not start completely from scratch.
Tottenham Already Looking for His Replacement
Spence also played an important role for Tottenham last season. The Englishman started 23 Premier League matches, although the Spurs endured a difficult campaign in which they ended up fighting to remain in the division.
Since arriving from Middlesbrough in 2022 in a deal worth around €23 million, Spence has made 85 appearances for the London club.
Now, with Roberto De Zerbi in charge of Tottenham, the club is reportedly already considering different alternatives to replace him.
Everything points to Djed Spence’s future being back in Italy.
Unless there is a late change and with only the official announcement still pending, Inter appears to have practically secured a full-back entering his prime, with Premier League experience and coming off a World Cup that further raised his international profile.
