Benfica Face Vinícius' Alverca With in-form Prestianni

  • Benfica visit Alverca, Vinícius Jr.'s club, with Prestianni in the best form

Prestianni, Benfica's card against Alverca

Benfica will face Vinícius Júnior's club, Alverca, next Monday in the tenth round of the Liga Portugal, where they will count on Argentine Gianluca Prestianni, currently in great form, as a key asset.

The 'eagles', second and five points behind leaders and champions Porto, were losing to Santa Clara in their last league match until Prestianni, within six minutes, provided an assist and scored a goal to secure the comeback (1-2).

The Argentine winger was in the global football spotlight last season after being accused of racially abusing Vini Jr during a match against Real Madrid, but this campaign he has managed to leave that episode behind and reach the best numbers of his career.

In total, with the season still far from its halfway point, Prestianni has 10 goals and six assists, 6 and 4 in the Liga Portugal, and his dynamism down the left flank will be key to breaking down the defense of tenth-placed Alverca.

Porto, flawless, host bottom club Estoril

Earlier, on Saturday, Porto will host bottom club Estoril with a flawless league record: nine wins from nine games, the latest earned the hard way against Gil Vicente (0-1) thanks to a goal from Spaniard Borja Sainz.

Unlike the 'dragons', Estoril have not managed a single win, and a good result against the champions would give fresh impetus to the side coached by former Real Betis goalkeeper Joel Robles, one of seven Spaniards in the squad.

Sporting, Braga and Famalicão seek response

The tenth round will begin this Friday with Sporting (3rd) visiting Casa Pia (16th), a match the 'lions' simply must win after their stumble last round, which ended in a home defeat to Atlético de Viseu (1-2).

With Sporting nine points behind the leaders and coach Rui Borges under pressure, hopes rest on Colombian striker Luis Suárez, who has scored in ten consecutive games in the green-and-white shirt.

The round will also feature a derby between Braga and Famalicão, two teams from the Minho region (in the north, bordering Galicia).

Braga (8th) are trying to revitalize their campaign after the dismissal of Mallorcan coach Carlos Vicens, as are their neighbors Famalicão (11th), who are no longer managed by former Celta de Vigo coach Carlos Carvalhal.EFE
