The wait for a Premier League goal continues for Tottenham Hotspur. Four matches into the 2026-27 campaign, Roberto De Zerbi’s side has yet to find the net, producing an unprecedented attacking start in the club’s league history. To find Tottenham’s last goal in the competition, it is necessary to go back almost four months, to the final day of last season on May 24, 2026.
When Did Tottenham Last Score in the Premier League?
Spurs have failed to score through the opening four matches of the 2026-27 season. Their last league goal came on May 24, when João Palhinha struck against Everton in a decisive battle for survival.
João Palhinha scored the last one
That match against Everton carried enormous importance. Tottenham needed to secure its Premier League status and eventually earned a 1-0 victory at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
In the 43rd minute, João Palhinha attacked a corner delivered by Mathys Tel. The Portuguese midfielder initially headed against the post before reacting quickest to force the rebound over the line for the only goal of the game.
The victory secured survival, with Spurs eventually finishing 17th in the 2025-26 standings. Tottenham has not scored in a Premier League match since.
Four games without a goal this season
The problem carried directly into 2026-27. Spurs opened with a 3-0 defeat against Brentford before losing 2-0 to Newcastle United.
Two scoreless draws followed: 0-0 away to Nottingham Forest and another 0-0 against Everton in London. Tottenham has therefore completed all 360 minutes of its new Premier League season without scoring while collecting only two points from a possible 12.
It is the first time in club history that Tottenham has failed to score in each of its opening four league games of a season.
The attacking numbers underline the issue. Across those four matches, Spurs registered only 11 shots on target: four against Brentford, five against Newcastle United, none at Nottingham Forest and two against Everton.
The drought is only in the Premier League
There is one important distinction. Tottenham has scored in other competitions during this period. In the League Cup, Spurs beat Charlton Athletic 5-1 in August, while Conor Gallagher found the net in a 3-1 defeat to Liverpool on September 15.
The drought therefore applies specifically to the Premier League.
After the draw with Everton, Roberto De Zerbi acknowledged that scoring is the team’s central problem and pointed to decision-making in the final third as one area that must improve.
Tottenham’s next opportunity to end the wait comes on Saturday, September 19, when Aston Villa visits the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Until then, Palhinha’s strike on May 24 remains the last Spurs goal in the Premier League.
