Vitor Pereira hopes Wolves can use an EFL Cup victory over Everton to lift their spirits when they visit Tottenham, still searching for their first points of the Premier League season.

Wolves have suffered defeat in each of their opening five games of the 2025-26 campaign, going down to Leeds United 3-1 at home last time out in the league.

They, at least, managed a morale-boosting 2-0 win over Everton at Molineux in Tuesday's EFL Cup third-round clash.

Wolves boss Pereira was delighted to see the mood improve with that cup victory, hoping it translates into an upturn in form after a drab start to their top-flight season.

"Happy for my players because I missed the smile, going in the dressing room seeing the smile, and the smile of the supporters," Pereira said of Tuesday's win.

"This group work a lot and want to be at a better level, [we are] just missing the results, but the players have quality and character.

"With two or three good results we can play in another level. We need to be consistent and increase our level and play with confidence. For the players, the time for adaptation has finished; it’s time to perform and help the team.

"I want to see a team with character, press when we get the chance and compete for the three points."

Unlike their visitors, Tottenham have made a flying start to their Premier League campaign, heading into Saturday's contest third in the table.

Thomas Frank's side are unbeaten in their last four outings, with a Champions League win over Villarreal and an EFL Cup victory over Doncaster Rovers going alongside their thrashing of West Ham United and a draw at Brighton.

The Danish boss named a fairly strong line-up for the visit of Doncaster on Wednesday, with Joao Palhinha, Xavi Simons and Mathys Tel all starting in a 3-0 victory.

He will be expected to reintroduce the likes of Richarlison, Mohammed Kudus and Micky van de Ven on Saturday, though, as Spurs look for their fourth league win in six games.

Tottenham – Richarlison

Richarlison has scored six goals in 12 Premier League games against Wolves – against no side has he netted more in the competition (also six vs Leicester City).

The Brazilian has also found the net three times already in the competition this season, and will undoubtedly fancy adding to his account against his favourite opponent.

Wolves – Ladislav Krejci

Ladislav Krejci found the net against Leeds and will hope that goal ensures his starting spot again, though his opener did little to stop a poor defeat.

He was the eighth player to score on his home Premier League debut for Wolves, after Steven Fletcher, Ruben Neves, Raul Jimenez, Ivan Cavaleiro, Rayan Ait-Nouri, Craig Dawson, and Jorgen Strand Larsen.

MATCH PREDICTION – TOTTENHAM WIN

Tottenham have earned 10 points in their five Premier League games under Frank so far (W3 D1 L1), double the amount they won in their final 12 games under Ange Postecoglou (W1 D2 L9).

That run of form makes them strong favourites in the Opta supercomputer's eyes of recording another victory against Wolves on Saturday.

However, Tottenham have lost four of their last five league meetings with Wolves (D1) since a 1-0 victory in August 2022, conceding two or more goals in each of their last four against them.

Wolves have also only lost two of their last eight Premier League visits to Tottenham (W4 D2), going unbeaten in their most recent two (W1 D1).

Despite that impressive head-to-head run, Wolves have lost all five of their Premier League games this season. Only three sides have ever lost each of their first six in a single campaign (Portsmouth 2009-10, Crystal Palace 2017-18, Norwich City 2021-22).

Tottenham are unbeaten in their last 15 Premier League games against sides starting the day bottom of the table (W12 D3), too, and will fancy extending that run against their out-of-form visitors.
