Manchester United have secured one of Europe’s most exciting young strikers, with 22-year-old Benjamin Šeško joining from RB Leipzig in a big-money move. The Slovenian arrives at Old Trafford as one of the club’s marquee signings for the new season.

Why Did Šeško Choose Manchester United?

Despite attracting several major offers, Šeško said he chose the Red Devils because of the club’s rich history and the ambition behind their current rebuild.

“I chose Manchester United because it’s a historic club. The team is strengthening well and that makes you want to join and gives you energy to be part of it. I think it’s a great project and I can’t wait to get started,” he said in his first interview as a United player.

Newcastle United were also in the race, viewing Šeško as a potential replacement for Alexander Isak should a transfer occur. However, the striker opted for United despite the club’s absence from European competitions this season, their 15th-place finish in last year’s Premier League, and their Europa League final defeat to Tottenham Hotspur.

Who Is His Biggest Inspiration?

Šeško admitted that his football idol is Zlatan Ibrahimović, a former United forward.

“Since I was a kid, I watched him on YouTube because he was incredible and I loved the way he played. He’s my idol and it would be a dream to meet him someday,” he revealed.

When Could He Make His Debut?

Šeško could make his official debut this Sunday at Old Trafford, when Manchester United host Arsenal in their opening Premier League match of the season.
