LIVE! Stade Rennais vs. Marseille in Ligue 1 on beIN SPORTS
The 2026-27 Ligue 1 Matchday 4 opens with a clash between two teams experiencing completely different moments. Stade Rennais hosts Olympique de Marseille at Roazhon Park, where the home side will look to extend its strong start to the season against a Marseille team in desperate need of a response.
The match also comes just days after a painful defeat for Marseille, which fell 3-2 to Paris FC and has now suffered back-to-back losses in the league.
Rennes Wants to Make Roazhon Park Count
The start of the season has brought plenty of positive signs for Stade Rennais.
The Rouge et Noir have won two of their opening three matches and are coming off a 2-1 road victory over Angers SCO, a result that allowed them to remain among the teams with the strongest starts to the competition.
Now they return to Roazhon Park, a stadium that has become one of their biggest strengths.
Rennes enters the match unbeaten in its last six home games and has also won four of the last six occasions in which it hosted Marseille in Ligue 1.
One of the players to watch will be Estéban Lepaul, who has scored three league goals and has emerged as one of the Breton side’s biggest attacking threats.
Marseille Needs a Response
The situation is very different for Olympique de Marseille.
After three matchdays, the Marseille side has already suffered two consecutive defeats and travels to Rennes needing to quickly turn its form around.
The latest loss was particularly painful.
Marseille fell 3-2 to Paris FC at the Vélodrome, a result that increased the pressure ahead of a difficult trip to Roazhon Park.
Its away form does not offer much encouragement either: OM has lost six of its last eight matches on the road in the French top flight.
Even so, the overall head-to-head record still strongly favors the club from the south of France.
A Ligue 1 Classic
Few matchups have as much history in French soccer.
According to Stade Rennais, this will be the 136th meeting between the two clubs. Marseille leads the all-time series with 60 victories, but the trend changes considerably when the match is played in Rennes.
At Roazhon Park, the Breton side has recorded 29 wins, 20 draws, and only 16 defeats against OM.
In addition, Marseille has won four of the last five meetings between the two teams, adding another layer of intrigue to one of the most attractive matches of Matchday 4.
