Filipe Luís hasn't forgotten Erik Lira: “I'll keep pushing for him every transfer window”
One of the biggest transfer sagas of the summer could have more chapters ahead. Filipe Luís made it clear that he has not forgotten about Erik Lira, insisting he will continue trying to bring the Cruz Azul player to AS Monaco every time the transfer window opens.
The Mexican came close to joining Monaco during the summer, but the deal ultimately collapsed after Folarin Balogun did not leave the club.
Now, with Monaco enjoying an impressive start to the Ligue 1 season under Filipe Luís, the coach has once again spoken openly about his interest in Lira.
Will Monaco try to sign Erik Lira again?
Asked whether he would make another attempt to sign the Cruz Azul player, Filipe Luís left little doubt.
“Of course. I always want great players by my side. It couldn't happen, he couldn't come, but I'll keep pushing for him every transfer window that opens,” he told Fox.
His comments keep alive the possibility of Monaco making another attempt to complete a move that fell through during the summer.

Filipe Luís: “Lira is top, top, top, top, top”
The Brazilian coach was even more emphatic when discussing the Mexican's quality.
“For me, Lira is top, top, top, top, top. He has the level to play in Europe,” he said.
Filipe Luís even recalled the Flamengo-Cruz Azul match to explain just how highly he rates the player.
“In fact, if you watch the Flamengo-Cruz Azul match, I put a man-marker on him. I never, almost never do that,” he explained.
The move did not materialize during the summer, but Filipe Luís' comments make it clear that Erik Lira remains in his plans for AS Monaco and that the coach is prepared to push for his signing again when the transfer market reopens.
