What’s a normal day like inside Barcelona’s dressing room? Pau Víctor reveals all
The current Braga player opened up about the secrets and curiosities surrounding the reigning Spanish champions.
Anything involving Barcelona — the reigning LaLiga champions and, for many, the best team in the world — always captures the football world’s attention, especially when it comes to what happens behind closed doors. Former Barça striker Pau Víctor recently revealed some locker-room secrets from Hansi Flick’s squad.
INSIDE THE BARÇA DRESSING ROOM
Now playing for Braga in Portugal, the forward shared that Catalan is the main language spoken inside the Barça dressing room. Despite the squad’s many nationalities and the large number of Spanish players, Catalan still dominates conversations among teammates.
“There’s a lot of Catalan spoken in the Barcelona locker room,” Víctor said during an appearance on the comedy show “La Sotana.”
“When asked whether Catalan is spoken during matches, I honestly don’t know… you’re the ones making the jokes,” he added jokingly, poking fun at his limited playing time with the LaLiga side.
Víctor also revealed that veteran Polish goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny is the only player in the squad who smokes — though only through a vape and while respecting team rules. According to the striker, his teammates constantly teased him about it.
“I’ve only seen Szczesny with a vape. It wasn’t inside the locker room… it was in a corner outside. We even hung posters there, and some of them were no-smoking signs,” he said about the veteran goalkeeper, who is considered one of the dressing room leaders.
HIS OWN REVELATION
Pau Víctor also admitted that players rewarded themselves after matches with waffles and chocolate — a treat not typically associated with elite athletes like professional footballers.
“After a 90-minute match, you can eat it. It’s not a problem,” he explained.
At 24 years old, the Girona academy product arrived at Braga looking to make a major impact during the 2025-26 season after recording 17 goals and six assists in 56 appearances. That marked a significant improvement compared to the two goals he scored in 29 matches with Barcelona during the 2024-25 campaign.
