Rafa Nadal Joins Real Madrid’s Board of Directors: Florentino Pérez Prepares a Historic Move

  • Real Madrid is preparing an addition that could reshape its board of directors. Rafa Nadal has given the proposal his approval, making November 21 a key date.

Real Madrid Prepares an Unexpected Signing Outside Football

Real Madrid is preparing a major move within its institutional structure. The Board of Directors, led by Florentino Pérez, unanimously agreed to propose the addition of Rafa Nadal, whose career has reached the highest levels of sports and who maintains a close relationship with the Madrid club.

The decision will be put to a vote during an Extraordinary General Assembly on November 21. Although approval from the club's delegate members is still pending, the proposal already has the backing of the club's leadership and could bring an unusual addition to the world of football.

Rafa Nadal Accepts Florentino Pérez’s Offer

The Spaniard, considered one of the greatest tennis players of all time, has accepted the invitation to join Real Madrid’s Board of Directors, putting him one step away from moving from the tennis court to the club's boardroom.

Through his social media accounts, Nadal thanked the Madrid president for the offer and expressed his excitement about this new chapter: "I have accepted this proposal with great excitement, eager to learn and contribute in any way I can". His appointment must still be ratified by the club's members, in accordance with Article 46 of the institution's bylaws.

A Historic Résumé That Wins Over Madrid Fans

The decision comes with a strong case behind it. Nadal won 92 singles titles, including 22 Grand Slam championships, as well as two Olympic gold medals, five Davis Cup titles with Spain, and the world No. 1 ranking. Real Madrid particularly highlighted his discipline, humility, competitiveness, and ability to overcome challenges as values that reflect the institution's identity.

The former tennis star also has an official connection to the club: he is an honorary member and holds membership No. 67,778. According to the club's official statement, his addition is a source of pride for Madrid fans and will allow someone of his stature to contribute to the institution's present and future.

November 21: A Key Date for His Appointment to the Board

Real Madrid will first hold its Ordinary General Assembly, where members will review the club's financial statements for the 2025/2026 fiscal year, the budget for 2026/2027, and membership fees for the 2027/2028 season. Immediately afterward, the Extraordinary General Assembly will take place, with the ratification of Rafael Nadal Parera's appointment as its sole agenda item.

With unanimous support from the Board of Directors and acceptance from Nadal himself, the outlook is favorable for the tennis legend to officially join Florentino Pérez's team. Real Madrid could be adding one of the most recognizable figures in world sports to its leadership structure in a move that could have significant implications for the club's institutional future.
