Marcus Rashford’s Promise to Barcelona Fans: “I Can Do Better”
Marcus Rashford found the back of the net again as FC Barcelona defeated Elche 3–1, but the English forward made it clear afterward that he’s far from satisfied with his current form — and vowed to improve.
Rashford Takes Responsibility
The 28-year-old forward, on loan from Manchester United, has experienced ups and downs during his debut season in LaLiga. Despite recording six goals and seven assists in 14 matches, Rashford admitted that he hasn’t yet reached his full potential.
“I’m trying to give my best. I could’ve done better against Elche, and I promise I will, but overall I’m happy with my performance,” said Rashford after the match.
The England international also highlighted the team’s reaction following their Clásico loss to Real Madrid:
“It was really important to win after a defeat. If I do things right on the pitch and with the team, I’ll always be able to score and create goals. My goal is to connect with my teammates and stay in sync — and that’s exactly what I’m starting to feel now.”
Adjusting to Spanish Football
Since joining Barcelona last summer after losing prominence at Manchester United, Rashford has faced a learning curve adapting to a different style of play. He admitted he’s had to develop more patience, confidence, and composure when in possession, rather than taking “the easy option.”
Still, Rashford has earned the trust of both his teammates and Hansi Flick, who considers him a key figure in the club’s offensive setup.

Criticism and Support
Catalan media have been demanding with the Englishman, pushing for greater consistency. Former Barça player Lluís Carreras analyzed his performance after the Elche game:
“He struggles because he plays in a position where he can’t be perfect. He can’t just receive and return the ball quickly — he has to take risks, and that’s where he sometimes lacks precision.”
Despite the criticism, Rashford remains fully committed to proving himself and rewarding the club’s faith in him. His goal against Elche could mark the start of a sharper, more decisive version of Marcus Rashford — one that promises to bring even more excitement to Barcelona’s upcoming fixtures.
