FC Barcelona seeks a striker

Álvarez speaks out

Ahead of the Champions League semifinal against Arsenal, Álvarez was asked about the rumors and chose to downplay them:

“I try not to give too much importance to what people say, because the truth is that every week, new things appear, all kinds of information,” he stated, as quoted by Fabrizio Romano.

The striker added: “I prefer not to waste energy on that and to focus on what we are doing here at Atleti.” And when the press pressed him, he was adamant: “I can't go out and clarify or deny everything that gets published, because it ends up being a snowball of lies."

Buyout-proof contract

Álvarez joined Atlético in 2024 from Manchester City and signed a contract through 2030, with a buyout clause of $585 million. Aware of the interest he is generating, the Rojiblancas' management is already working on further extending his contract to ensure the continuity of their top scorer.
