Hansi Flick Confirms He Will Stay at Barcelona
The German manager made it clear that his future remains tied to FC Barcelona, with his next major target already set: winning the UEFA Champions League.
The Hansi Flick era at FC Barcelona is set to continue. After securing another LaLiga title with a victory over Real Madrid in El Clásico, the German coach publicly confirmed that he will remain in charge of the Blaugrana and is expected to sign a contract extension through 2028.
Flick explained that he feels completely comfortable at the Catalan club and highlighted the trust he has received since arriving in Spain. Following a season filled with trophies, injuries and moments of pressure, the former Bayern Munich coach believes the team still has room to grow and compete for even bigger goals.
Flick Sets His Sights on the Champions League
Despite already wrapping up the domestic title with games to spare, the German manager insisted that the team’s ambition remains extremely high.
“I’m in the right place,” Flick said during his press conference, where he also confirmed that both the club and coaching staff are aligned on building a long-term project.
In addition to celebrating the league title, Flick made it clear that the UEFA Champions League is now the main objective for this revamped Barcelona squad. The German tactician believes the team has enough quality to challenge Europe’s elite once again.
The coach also revealed that the club wants to finish the season by reaching the 100-point mark in LaLiga, meaning the Blaugrana must win their final three matches of the campaign.
Leadership and Barcelona’s Evolution
Another key topic addressed by Flick was the leadership shown inside the dressing room during a difficult season affected by injuries.
The manager particularly praised Gavi, describing him as the emotional heart of the squad because of the intensity he brings to training sessions and his competitive mentality. He also highlighted the football intelligence of Pedri, while recognizing the importance of players such as Frenkie de Jong, Ronald Araujo, Raphinha and Eric Garcia.
Despite injury problems affecting major figures like Lamine Yamal, Pedri, Raphinha and Frenkie, the Blaugrana managed to maintain consistency both offensively and defensively throughout the campaign.
Flick emphasized that very few people expected the team to become one of the strongest defensive sides in Spain this season, something he considers one of the biggest achievements of the group.
