Hansi Flick on Barcelona’s Registrations: “I’m Not Happy With the Situation, but I Trust the Club”
Ahead of FC Barcelona’s LaLiga debut, Hansi Flick once again pointed to one of the club’s biggest headaches in recent years: player registrations. The coach did not hide his discomfort, although he made it clear that he still trusts the club to resolve it in time.
A Debut with Pending Business
LaLiga’s opening weekend arrives with FC Barcelona still waiting to register key players for the season. Among them are goalkeeper Joan Garcia and English forward Marcus Rashford, whose addition is still pending LaLiga’s approval. In his press conference ahead of the match against Real Mallorca, Hansi Flick did not hide his frustration: “I’m not happy, I know the situation and I trust the club. We have to wait until tomorrow.”
The coach recalled that the same situation happened a year ago and, despite the difficulties, the team started the season well. Even so, his priority is to have all reinforcements available as soon as possible to avoid setbacks in planning.
The Joan Garcia Case and Goalkeeper Management
Flick explained that signing Joan Garcia was a joint decision, highlighting his talent and the experience of Tek Szczęsny as a complement during Marc-André ter Stegen’s absence. Regarding the German keeper, the coach made it clear that his recovery is the most important thing: “We’re all going to help him, because that’s what matters most.”

Confidence in the Squad Despite Setbacks
Beyond registrations, Flick reviewed the state of the squad and the unexpected departure of Iñigo Martínez, whom he described as a leader with great personality. He confirmed there will be no signing to replace him, placing his trust in Gerard Martín and the versatility of his squad.
The coach insisted that the goal is to continue the work from last season and not settle: “This is not over, we want to keep going and we’re on the right track, even though our rivals are very good.”
