Barcelona Signs Adeyemi to a Long-Term Contract as an Important Piece of the Team
Adeyemi joins Barça with a contract until 2031 to strengthen the forward line after the departures of Lewandowski and Rashford.
Adeyemi is a new player for Barcelona.
The European summer saga is over. FC Barcelona shook things up and officially announced the arrival of Karim Adeyemi, the German forward who is leaving Borussia Dortmund to move to Spain. At just 24 years old, the forward signed a long-term contract for five seasons, sealing his commitment to the blue and garnet entity until June 2031. This move is key for Barça's scheme, which was looking for a breath of fresh air after the departure of a heavyweight like Robert Lewandowski and the end of Marcus Rashford's loan. Adeyemi doesn't come alone; he joins Anthony Gordon as the second major bet to strengthen the team's offense.
The farewell of a pillar in Dortmund
The German's time in the Bundesliga was from lesser to greater, leaving a tally of 36 goals in 146 matches during his four years at the club. At the moment of saying goodbye, the player did not forget the fans of the Westfalenstadion: "I want to thank Borussia Dortmund for four fantastic years. To the club, my teammates, and the fans who made every match special with their support. I wish them all the best for the future," he expressed emotionally. Adeyemi, who had arrived in 2022 from Red Bull Salzburg, reached his peak in the 2024 Champions League final, establishing himself as an elite player before making the leap to La Liga.
A transfer that closes from all sides
From the German management, Lars Ricken explained that the departure was on good terms and that the deal convinced both parties. "This summer we agreed that both Karim and we wanted to go our separate ways. When he expressed his desire to sign with FC Barcelona, we accepted after considering the interests of the club," commented the sporting director. With his tremendous speed as his hallmark, Adeyemi arrives in Catalonia with the mission of being a fundamental piece in the new sports project that aims to put Barcelona back at the top of Europe and set the pace in the international market.
