(PHOTOS) Rodrygo’s Post Makes Clear His Preference for Mbappé Over Vinícius Jr. At Real Madrid
Amid rumors linking him to other clubs, Rodrygo has made a post that seemingly reveals his favorite teammates—or at least, that’s how it can be interpreted from the Brazilian, who remains a Real Madrid player.
Rodrygo’s post with his favorites
After surprising many by starting against Real Oviedo, the Brazilian shared a photo first alongside Kylian Mbappé and another next to Antonio Rüdiger—two images that suggest they are among his favorite teammates in the locker room.
A quick look at Rodrygo’s Instagram account shows it’s not common to see him pictured with Vinícius Jr., leading to speculation that his bond with the Frenchman might be stronger.
Rodrygo starts amid exit rumors
Rodrygo Goes was one of the big surprises in Xabi Alonso’s starting lineup for Real Madrid’s victory over Oviedo. The 24-year-old Brazilian started in his preferred position on the left wing. However, the big casualty was Vinícius Jr., who had to wait on the bench until the second half.
Real Madrid delivered a strong first half, but the team struggled in the second, prompting Alonso to make a change: in the 63rd minute, he substituted Rodrygo for Vinícius. The forward’s reaction was noticeable. As soon as he sat down, he expressed his frustration by angrily throwing his jersey to the ground and gesturing toward the field in protest.
The Brazilian international, whose role has diminished at the start of the season, had already seen limited minutes in the Club World Cup—against Borussia Dortmund and RB Salzburg—and didn’t even play in the league opener against Osasuna.
According to Marca, while Real Madrid has no plans to sell Rodrygo in this transfer window, the club is prepared to receive last-minute offers from the Premier League, with Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester City as potential suitors before the market closes on September 1.
