The Resounding Failure of Mbappé in El Clásico: He Lost Every Match Against Barcelona While Playing for Real Madrid
Kylian Mbappé got tired of scoring against Barcelona, but this fixture has turned into a true nightmare for the Frenchman.
No one can say that Kylian Mbappé has performed poorly in El Clásico vs FC Barcelona, but the truth is that this historic rivalry has turned into a real nightmare for the French star.
And when we say he’s had a tough time, we mean it. Mbappé hasn’t won a single Clásico in the 2024–2025 season, despite consistently getting on the scoresheet for Real Madrid.
Clásicos Have Become a Curse for Mbappé
The first El Clásico came on Matchday 11 of LaLiga EA Sports, when Real Madrid suffered a shocking 0-4 defeat at the Santiago Bernabéu. It was the only Clásico this season in which Mbappé didn’t score.
Then came the Spanish Super Cup Final on January 12, where Mbappé scored, but it wasn’t enough—Barcelona won 5-2, denying Madrid the first of three titles this season.
On April 26, Mbappé scored again in a crucial match, but Real Madrid lost 3-2 in extra time, handing another trophy to their eternal rivals.
The fourth and final Clásico of the season came with LaLiga on the line. Mbappé struck twice within the first 14 minutes and capped off his performance with a hat-trick, but the result was the same—a 4-3 loss and the league practically decided.
Barcelona Is Still One of His Favorite Victims
Despite the string of losses, Barcelona remains one of Mbappé’s top victims. He scored six goals against Barça as a PSG player, and has now added five more with Real Madrid, putting them just behind Montpellier (13 goals) and Metz (12 goals) in his list of favorite opponents.
Still, Mbappé’s goal-scoring brilliance in his first season at Real Madrid was not enough to secure trophies. Four Clásicos, four defeats—a stat that could mark the end of Carlo Ancelotti’s second stint at the club.
