Zinedine Zidane Reaches Verbal Agreement To Coach France
After several years without a team, the former Real Madrid manager is reportedly set to take charge of France following the World Cup, replacing Didier Deschamps.
After a long spell away from the sidelines, Zinedine Zidane appears ready to begin a new chapter in his managerial career. According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, the former Real Madrid coach has reached a verbal agreement to become the new head coach of the France national football team after this summer’s World Cup.
Reports indicate that nothing will be made official until the tournament in the United States concludes. For now, the French federation remains focused on the competition under the guidance of Didier Deschamps, who is expected to step down once the World Cup ends.
Romano stated that the understanding between Zidane and the French Football Federation has already been sealed verbally. “The situation is clear. There is a verbal agreement, and Zidane will be the new national team coach after the World Cup,” the journalist explained.
Zidane is widely regarded as one of the greatest icons in French football history. As a player, he earned 108 international caps and played a pivotal role in France’s 1998 World Cup triumph, becoming a national hero. He also featured in the 2006 World Cup, marking the end of his international playing career.
Since leaving Real Madrid in 2021, Zidane has frequently been linked with the France job. After years of speculation, it now appears that “Zizou” is finally set to take charge in the coming months.
