Haaland Ready to Shine in His World Cup Debut
The Norway national team announced the players who will travel to the 2026 FIFA World Cup this summer and, as expected, the leader of the attack will be Erling Haaland, who is set to play in his first World Cup after another outstanding season with Manchester City.
But Ståle Solbakken’s squad is not just about “The Cyborg.” The team also features Martin Ødegaard as its main playmaker and captain, along with Alexander Sørloth, who arrives in spectacular form with Atlético de Madrid.

Norway Returns to the World Cup
After 28 years away from football’s biggest stage, Norway arrives with an impressive squad. They scored 37 goals in eight qualifying matches, remained unbeaten, and conceded only five goals. Their devastating attack is led by Erling Haaland, who already boasts an incredible record with the national team: 55 goals in 49 appearances.
Ødegaard Looking to Confirm His Brilliant Form
Captain Martin Ødegaard heads into the World Cup enjoying one of the best moments of his career. A Premier League champion with Arsenal, he will be the creative force behind the Viking side. During qualification, he delivered seven assists and played a key role in the team’s highly effective attacking system. Despite dealing with some physical issues during the season, he is expected to arrive at the tournament fully fit and focused.

A Tough Group Ahead
If there is a true “group of death,” it is Group I. Norway will open its campaign against Iraq, another nation returning to the World Cup, but the biggest challenges will come afterward against Senegal and France, one of the tournament favorites led by Kylian Mbappé. The objective for the Nordic side is clear: advance past the group stage. Given their impressive qualification run and attacking talent, an early exit would be considered a major disappointment.
