Saudi Arabia's possible starting XI against Cape Verde at the 2026 FIFA World Cup
The Green Falcons are hoping to bow out with a victory despite already being eliminated, while the Blue Sharks are still chasing a place in the Round of 32.
After watching Turkey's dramatic victory over the United States, Saudi Arabia will also be looking to end its 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign on a winning note, despite having been eliminated after Matchday 2 of the group stage.
In this third and final match against Cape Verde, the Green Falcons will aim to derail the African side's hopes of reaching the Round of 32, and they are expected to make life as difficult as possible for their opponents.
THE PROJECTED XI
Head coach Georgios Donis is expected to deploy a defensive-minded 5-4-1 formation, prioritizing solidity at the back.
Mohammed Al Owais is set to start in goal for the third consecutive match as the team's trusted No. 1.
The back five should feature center-backs Abdulelah Al-Amri, Ali Lajami, and Hassan Al Tambakti, flanked by wing-backs Saud Abdulhamid and Moteb Al-Harbi.
In midfield, holding midfielders Nasser Al-Dawsari and Abdullah Alkhaibari are expected to provide balance, while Salem Al-Dawsari and Musab Al-Juwayr operate in more advanced roles.
Leading the line as the lone striker, Firas Al-Braikan will be tasked with finishing off Saudi Arabia's counterattacking moves.
