Carlo Ancelotti has extended his contract with Brazil through to 2030 ahead of the upcoming World Cup.

Ancelotti took over in May 2025, taking on his first international management role while becoming the first non-Brazilian to coach the national team.

His initial contract ran through to the end of the World Cup – taking place in the United States, Canada and Mexico – but he has not put pen to paper on a four-year extension.

According to the Opta supercomputer, Brazil have a 60.4% chance of topping their group, which features Morocco, Scotland and Haiti.

The Selecao have been given a 6.6% chance of winning the competition for the first time since 2002.

Ancelotti could become the third coach to win both the World Cup and Champions League/European Cup, after Marcello Lippi and Vicente del Bosque.

"I arrived in Brazil a year ago. From the first minute, I understood what football means to this country," Ancelotti told the CBF website.

"For a year, we have been working to bring the Brazilian National Team back to the top of the world. But the CBF and I want more. More victories, more time, more work.

"We are very happy to announce that we will continue together for another four years. We will go together until the 2030 World Cup.

"I want to thank the CBF for their trust. Thank you, Brazil, for the warm welcome and for all the affection."

Ancelotti has led Brazil in 10 matches so far, winning half of those games (D2 L3), with the Selecao scoring 18 goals and conceding eight.

Brazil will face Panama and Egypt in pre-World Cup friendlies, before opening their Group C campaign against Morocco on June 13.
