Franco Mastantuono Joins Argentina’s Squad at the Last Minute
The Argentine midfielder of Real Madrid who had been left out of the squad managed to get in at the last minute
Not included in the squad
The Real Madrid midfielder, who had been left out of the Argentine national team squad, is added at the last minute. Young Franco Mastantuono joins the Scaloneta squad for the new challenge that replaces the Finalissima: friendly matches against Mauritania and Guatemala in preparation for the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
The reason for his absence
The initial non-call-up was due to the Argentine player not having enough playing minutes on Álvaro Arbeloa's team, who had benched him for 4 matches, and he also missed 2 due to a red card that affected him. Apart from entering the matches quite late in the game, which didn't allow him to make significant contributions.
He returned to the call-up.
He was not included in Lionel Scaloni's call-up due to his lack of playing time; however, this Friday, the coach and his team decided to add him to the squad to face Mauritania on March 28 at La Bombonera in Buenos Aires and against Guatemala on April 1. He wasn't the only one to be added at the last minute; Panichelli, the Argentine forward from Strasbourg, was also part of the last additions to La Scaloneta.
