Curaçao will play in the first FIFA World Cup in its history led by Tahith Chong, Leandro Bacuna, and veteran coach Dick Advocaat.
Curaçao is ready for a historic World Cup adventure
The national team of Curaçao officially confirmed the 26 players who will represent the island at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where the Caribbean side will compete in the biggest football tournament on the planet for the very first time.
The historic qualification instantly turned Curaçao into one of the most fascinating stories heading into the tournament in the United States, Mexico, and Canada, especially considering the island has a population of just over 150,000 people.
Managed by legendary Dutch coach Dick Advocaat, Curaçao will compete in Group E alongside Germany, Ecuador, and Ivory Coast, one of the toughest groups in the entire World Cup.

Player To Watch
The player generating the most excitement in this historic Curaçao squad is undoubtedly Tahith Chong. The Sheffield United winger, developed in the Manchester United academy, will be the team’s main attacking weapon at its first-ever World Cup.
With his speed, dribbling ability, and experience in English football, Chong arrives as the player expected to make the difference against some of the biggest national teams in the world.
Dick Advocaat will make World Cup history
Another major figure behind this remarkable story is Dick Advocaat himself. At 78 years old, the Dutch manager will become the oldest coach ever to manage a match at the FIFA World Cup.
The experienced coach returned to the national team only weeks after stepping away from the role and decided to once again lead Curaçao into the greatest football adventure in the island’s history.
Curaçao built a squad with strong European roots
One of the most fascinating aspects of this squad is the large number of players either born or developed in the Netherlands.
Footballers such as Kenji Gorré, Jürgen Locadia, the Bacuna brothers, and Chong himself all spent years in European academies before choosing to represent Curaçao, a strategy that ultimately helped transform the Caribbean nation into a competitive international side.
Although Curaçao will not enter the tournament as favorites to advance from the group stage, there is a strong belief within the squad that this team can compete far better than many expect.
“We will sell our skin as dearly as possible,” Dick Advocaat warned after announcing the squad. And with a mixture of European talent, Caribbean pride, and one of the most unique stories of the tournament, Curaçao has already become one of the most captivating teams of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
