Five matches, four wins, and one draw have brought millions into the club coffers.
Real Madrid leads the earnings ranking of the FIFA-organized Club World Cup. Their recent quarterfinal win over Borussia Dortmund has secured them a place in the semifinals, where they will face Paris Saint-Germain, the current European champions, this coming Wednesday.
Just by reaching this stage, the Spanish giants are guaranteed an income of $86 million, which is $7.5 million more than Luis Enrique PSG, who sit second on the financial leaderboard.
A Brilliant Start for Xabi Alonso
Xabi Alonso debut as head coach couldn’t be going better. Real Madrid has claimed four victories and one draw in their five matches at the tournament currently being held in the United States.
Alonso has revitalized a squad that had stagnated under former manager Carlo Ancelotti, now in charge of the Brazilian national team.
Prize Money Rankings
In the Top 5 of Club World Cup earnings, Real Madrid tops the list with $86 million, followed by PSG. Fluminenseranks third with $61 million, Chelsea with $59 million, and Bayern Munich with $57 million.
The list extends with Borussia Dortmund (57), Manchester City (50), Inter Milan (38), Palmeiras (40), and Al Hilalfrom Saudi Arabia (34), bringing the cumulative total to over $560 million so far.
How Much Will the Champion Earn?
The winners of the Fluminense vs. Chelsea and PSG vs. Real Madrid semifinals will each receive an additional $30 million.
If Real Madrid defeats PSG, their total earnings would rise to $117 million, while PSG would collect $108 million if they win. The tournament champion will receive an extra $40 million bonus on top of that.
The Most Lucrative Tournament
Without a doubt, the Club World Cup has become highly profitable for Real Madrid. With several expensive signings on their squad, the tournament has essentially become their best sponsor.
