Luka Modric would head to Inter Miami to play with Lionel Messi at the Club World Cup
After confirming his departure from Real Madrid as a free agent, Luka Modric quickly became one of the most sought-after names in the market. One of the clubs gaining the most strength to sign him is Inter Miami, a team that dreams of forming a “Dream Team” alongside Lionel Messi, Jordi Alba, Sergio Busquets, Luis Suárez… and now also with the Croatian genius.
David Beckham and Messi, driving the signing
According to the Catalan portal Mundo Deportivo, David Beckham is determined to bring Modric and has the backing of Messi himself, who reportedly requested his arrival since April. The contract offered to the former Madrid player would be 2.5 million dollars annually until July 2026, which would allow him to stay in shape ahead of the World Cup that will be held in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
At 39 years old, and after losing prominence in Carlo Ancelotti’s scheme, Modric continues to show quality and ambition to compete at the highest level. Inter Miami, which has already become a star magnet, aims to strengthen its midfield with a player who won 28 titles with Real Madrid, including six Champions Leagues and a Ballon d’Or.
A new chapter for a legend
In his emotional farewell on social media, Modric wrote: “Playing at Real Madrid changed my life as a footballer and as a person. I feel proud to have been part of one of the most successful eras of the best club in history.” He also added: “I leave with a full heart. Full of pride, gratitude, and unforgettable memories. Real Madrid will always be my home. For life.”
For its part, Real Madrid thanked the Croatian with a statement calling him “one of the greatest legends of our club and world football.” Everything indicates that the next chapter of this legend will be in the MLS, under the Miami lights and alongside some of his old rivals who would be now teammates.
