Will Jamal Musiala Play in the German Super Cup? Bayern's Surprising Stance After His Two Collapses
Despite two concerning incidents in recent days, the German star could still be available to face Borussia Dortmund.
Jamal Musiala could still be available for Saturday's German Super Cup against Borussia Dortmund, a surprising possibility after the Bayern Munich star collapsed twice in just four days.
For now, Bayern have not ruled the midfielder out. The explanation lies in an important distinction between his neurological condition and his physical fitness: according to information coming from Munich, Musiala is physically fit and his neurological condition does not necessarily affect his athletic performance.
The club continues to assess the two recent episodes against RB Leipzig and Heidenheim and must now determine whether it is appropriate for Musiala to take part in a final just days after his latest collapse.
Bayern Have Known About Musiala's Condition for Months
Although the two incidents during matches caused significant concern, Musiala's condition was not entirely unknown inside Bayern.
Honorary president Uli Hoeness confirmed that the club had been aware of the player's issues for months, although they had never previously manifested themselves in this way during a match.
“We've known about his problems for months. There had been some signs, but nothing like this had ever happened to him during a game,” Hoeness explained.
The Bayern figure admitted that the latest incidents caught the club by surprise and confirmed that the medical staff remain in constant contact with specialists.

Why Could Musiala Play Despite His Collapses?
Musiala recently revealed that he has a neurological condition that causes absence seizures, episodes characterized by brief and sudden interruptions of consciousness.
The available information indicates that the condition does not affect other vital organs such as his heart and does not necessarily mean there is a problem with his overall physical fitness.
Bayern therefore believe Musiala can continue his career while receiving treatment and remaining under specialist supervision. Any decision to allow him to compete will depend on the appropriate medical evaluations.
Musiala Has Been Under Medical Supervision for Months
Bayern have been dealing with the situation alongside neurologists and other specialists for some time, meaning the recent incidents did not mark the beginning of Musiala's medical monitoring.
What has changed is how the condition has manifested itself. Two collapses in just four days have inevitably caused greater concern within the club and around the player.
“We're all speechless. We weren't prepared for this. We'll have to learn how to deal with the situation,” Hoeness admitted.
When Will Bayern Decide if Musiala Can Face Borussia Dortmund?
A final decision is expected on Friday, when Bayern will determine whether Musiala can be included in the squad for the German Super Cup or whether he will be left out as a precaution.
Saturday's final will see Bayern, who won both the Bundesliga and German Cup last season, face Bundesliga runners-up Borussia Dortmund.
Until then, Musiala officially remains in contention to play. His availability will ultimately depend on his medical evaluation and whether Bayern believe it is appropriate for him to return just days after the episodes that raised fresh concerns over his condition.
