At 33, the Bayern Munich striker is enjoying one of the most extraordinary periods of his career. He is coming off the most prolific season of his life, led England to the semifinals of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, and his start to the new campaign suggests he may still have another level to reach.
Harry Kane Talks About the 2026 Ballon d’Or
The years appear to be working in Harry Kane’s favor.
This Friday, he added another historic achievement.
Kane scored twice in Bayern Munich’s 7-0 victory over Union Berlin, reaching 101 goals in just 98 Bundesliga appearances. No player in the history of the German championship had ever reached 100 goals faster.
His extraordinary form on the field matches exactly how he feels away from it. In an interview with Marca, the striker discussed his current form, the Ballon d’Or, the UEFA Champions League, the World Cup with England and the reasons why, at 33, he feels better than ever.
“Honestly, I feel so good physically and mentally... better than ever!” Kane told Marca.
Kane Says He Is in the Best Moment of His Life
During his interview with Marca, the English striker did not hide the fact that getting older has also become motivation to make the most of every season.
“When you get older, time doesn’t last forever. But right now, I’m in a really good moment,” he explained.
He attributes part of that level to Alejandro Elorriaga, his personal sports doctor, with whom he has worked since March 2020. Kane considers that work one of the main reasons why his performances have not declined with age. In fact, the opposite has happened.
The numbers support that feeling.
Last season, he finished with 73 goals in 65 matches for Bayern Munich and England, the best campaign of his career. He also won the European Golden Shoe again and is now chasing a third, something only Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo have accomplished more than twice.
The 2026 Ballon d’Or Is on the Horizon
Inevitably, numbers like those have placed Kane among the names in the conversation for the 2026 Ballon d’Or.
The Englishman, however, preferred not to campaign for himself during his conversation with Marca.
“I’ve never really liked talking too much about myself,” he said, although he acknowledged that his 73 goals last season “speak for themselves.”
Kane considers that campaign the best of his life, but insists it is already in the past. His attention is now focused on maintaining his level this season and continuing to compete for trophies with Bayern Munich.
The major unfinished business remains the UEFA Champions League.
After coming close to reaching the final last season, the striker believes Vincent Kompany’s team has the hunger required to make another run at the trophy.
From World Cup Heartbreak to a New Challenge With England
The interview also took Kane back to one of the most difficult moments of his summer.
England reached the semifinals of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where it was eliminated 2-1 by Argentina. The England captain particularly remembered the embrace he shared with Lionel Messi after the match and the enormous respect he has for the Argentine.
“It was obviously tough for me that day. It was a difficult moment to go out in that way,” Kane told Marca.
Despite the disappointment, the striker emphasized the importance of showing respect to the opponent and recalled wishing Messi good luck before Argentina played in the final.
Now, the next challenge with his national team is already approaching.
England will host world champion Spain at Wembley Stadium to begin its UEFA Nations League campaign, a competition Kane believes represents an opportunity for the Three Lions to begin building something important ahead of UEFA Euro 2028.
Meanwhile, the goals continue to come in Germany.
Kane joined Bayern Munich in 2023 searching for the trophies that had eluded him for so many years. Three years later, he has not only found them.
He also appears to have found the best version of himself.
