Hungry for More! Mahomes Aims for Three-Peat
The Chiefs' quarterback is not content with winning two consecutive Super Bowls and warned that they will work to be back next year.
Just an hour after securing his third Super Bowl victory and MVP title in Las Vegas, Patrick Mahomes, the quarterback of the Kansas City Chiefs, ensured that his team would celebrate until the parade next week and then "get back to work" for next year.
"We're going to celebrate today, we're going to celebrate at the parade, and then we're going to try to get the three-peat. We'll come back with the same mindset, that's my mindset, we're going to work to be back here next year," Mahomes said in the post-Super Bowl press conference following their 25-22 overtime win against the San Francisco 49ers.
"I hope people remember the greatness that we did, but also how we did it. It's not always pretty, but it's about fighting until the end," he added.
At just 28 years old, Mahomes already has three Super Bowl titles to his name and leads the Kansas City Chiefs, who with their three titles in five years, are establishing a true dynasty in the NFL.
The Chiefs' quarterback offered heartfelt praise to his coach, Andy Reid.
"He's one of the best ever, I think he's the best ever, the way he leads every team he's on. He allows me to be myself, he doesn't want me to be someone else. And he wants me to be the best person I can be," Mahomes said.
He also highlighted the "culture" within the Chiefs and the great work done by their defense during the most challenging moment of the Super Bowl, when their team was losing 0-10.
