Max Verstappen Surprised by 'Incredible Result' at the Brazilian Grand Prix: "I Did Not Expect That at All"
Max Verstappen stunned fans with a podium finish at Brazil GP after starting from the pitlane, calling it an “incredible result” he never anticipated.
Starting from the pitlane following a major setup overhaul and new power unit installation, Max Verstappen faced daunting odds at the 2025 Brazilian Grand Prix.
Despite this, the Red Bull driver showcased relentless determination and skill, recovering swiftly through the field. Even after suffering an early puncture that forced an extra pit stop, Verstappen persevered and finished an impressive third place behind Lando Norris and Kimi Antonelli.
Verstappen himself admitted he never expected to reach the podium under such challenging circumstances.
Race Challenges and Strong Pace
Verstappen's race strategy began conservatively to gain track position, but the puncture early on added another hurdle. Throughout the race, the Red Bull car demonstrated strong pace, allowing Verstappen to steadily close the gap on frontrunners.
His late-race battle with Mercedes’ Kimi Antonelli was intense, with Antonelli ultimately holding off a late charge to secure second place as Verstappen finished just behind.
Red Bull’s strategic calls, including a final pit stop to switch to softer tires, helped Verstappen maintain competitive lap times and secure crucial points despite tire degradation concerns.
Boost for Team Confidence and Championship Fight
This remarkable comeback leaves Verstappen buoyed as the season approaches its final three-race stretch. The result lifts Red Bull ahead of Ferrari in the Constructors’ Championship standings, closing the gap to Mercedes, a key rival.
Despite a tough qualifying session with both Red Bull drivers eliminated in Q1, Verstappen’s performance in Brazil epitomizes the team’s resilience and capacity to fight back under pressure.
As Verstappen builds momentum, the Brazil GP podium injects fresh optimism into his quest for a fifth consecutive World Championship.
