Saul “Canelo” Alvarez Adds an Important Booster to His Preparation Against Terence Crawford
Canelo Álvarez brings in Jaron Ennis as a high-profile sparring partner for his fight against Terence Crawford on September 13 in Las Vegas.
Canelo leaves nothing to chance
On September 13 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Canelo Álvarez and Terence Crawford will face off for world boxing supremacy. With the 168-pound titles on the line, the Mexican decided to take his preparation as seriously as possible.
His latest move was to bring in undefeated Jaron “Boots” Ennis as a star sparring partner at his Lake Tahoe training camp, a boxer whose characteristics resemble Crawford's style.
Why Jaron Ennis?
Ennis (34-0, 30 KOs) is one of the most feared names in the new generation of boxing. His ability to switch between orthodox and southpaw stances during a fight makes him a different opponent, just what Canelo needs to simulate Crawford's skills in the ring.
Although Ennis is not a natural southpaw like “Bud,” his ability to fight from both stances and his aggressive style allow him to mimic many of the American's moves.
Full preparation for the “fight of the year”
Canelo has always been known for his discipline and high standards in training camps, but the addition of Ennis shows that he is willing to take his preparation to another level.
The goal is clear: neutralize Crawford's style and arrive on September 13 with all the answers ready in the ring.
