Zverev defends injured Djokovic from crowd boos
Tennis fans were stunned by Novak Djokovic's retirement immediately after the first set of his Australian Open semi-final against German Alexander Zverev, but even more shocking was the crowd's hostile reaction towards the Serbian champion.
Zverev went through to the final after Djokovic pulled the pin having lost the first set in a tiebreak, having sustained a muscle tear in his quarter-final win over Carlos Alcaraz.
The German victor laid criticised those in the crowd that chose to boo the 10-time champion as he left Rod Laver Arena.
Zverev will play defending champion and world No.1 Jannik Sinner in the final after he came through his semi-final against Ben Shelton in straight sets.
