De Minaur saves match point to beat Halys in China
Alex de Minaur is into his second straight China Open quarter-final, but had to save a match point against himself against Quentin Halys in their Round of 16 clash, eventually winning out 3-6 7-6 (7-5) 7-5 after close to three hours on court.
The Australian was a set down to the French qualifier, and was staring down the barrel of defeat when Halys served for the match at 5-3 in the second, but De Minaur clawed his way to a tiebreak, which he won 7-5 to set up a decider.
That third set was no easier, but De Minaur earned a break at 5-5 that would prove crucial before seeing out the match in 2 hours 47 minutes.
