'No excuses' for Arsenal in humbling defeat to Brighton, says Konsa

Ezri Konsa believes there are "no excuses" for Arsenal's performance in their uninspiring defeat to Brighton on Saturday.

The Gunners were thrashed 3-0 by Brighton at the Amex Stadium, with Pascal Gross and Charalampos Koustoulas scoring stunning strikes before Chema Andres' towering header in the second half.

It marked Arsenal’s biggest league defeat in a season where they were the reigning top-flight champions since October 1989, a 3-0 loss at Everton.

Arsenal also suffered their biggest Premier League defeat since May 2023, which was also against Brighton (3-0 at Emirates Stadium).

Mikel Arteta's side had won each of their previous eight competitive matches in 2026-27, as well as nine Premier League games going back to last season.

Arsenal's trip to Brighton was the last of their four-match away run before the international break, but Konsa refused to use their busy schedule as an excuse.

"Four games away from home, we managed to win three of them. There are no excuses," said Konsa.

"We just weren't good enough. That's it. There's nothing much more I can say. We'll go away as individuals, and I'm sure with the staff we’ll go away and look at what we can do better.

"We set ourselves some high standards, and it's important that we don't let those standards go, like we did. These are things we need to learn from very quickly.

"We go into the break now, and it's time for us to reflect as individuals, collectively, and when we do come back, we make sure we correct things that we didn't do right.

"We obviously wanted to keep the momentum going, which we were doing. Like I said, we know ourselves as players that wasn't good enough. We have to work on what went wrong."
