Mauricio Pochettino has revealed he will decide whether or not to continue as the United States' head coach next week.

As co-hosts, the USA reached the last 16 at the World Cup before losing 4-1 to Belgium in Seattle.

The USA have been eliminated in the round of 16 on six of their seven appearances at that stage, including their last four appearances in the competition (2010, 2014, 2022, 2026).

The tournament started well for Pochettino's side, who topped Group D with six points, while they also beat Bosnia-Herzegovina in the round of 32.

That knockout victory came despite Folarin Balogun's red card, though the reversal of the striker's suspension – which came after president Donald Trump spoke with FIFA officials about the matter – proved controversial and Pochettino's team then produced a meek performance versus Belgium.

The Argentine coach's contract with the USMNT is soon to expire, and he is yet to decide whether he will continue in the role.

"We are evaluating it, looking at it," Pochettino told Spanish radio Cadena Cope about his contract situation.

"They [US Soccer] have made me an offer to continue and we will see. Next week we will make a decision."

Pochettino took charge of the USA in September 2024 and helped them finish as runners-up to Mexico in the Gold Cup a year later.

They also finished fourth in the CONCACAF Nations League after losing to Canada in the third-place play-off.
