Nadal hails 'perfect' Djokovic after Qatar defeat
After only dropping three games in his Qatar Open final win, Novak Djokovic was labelled the "perfect" player by Rafael Nadal.
Rafael Nadal described Novak Djokovic as the "perfect" player after the Serbian cruised to the Qatar Open title at his expense on Saturday.
Djokovic was ruthless in his destruction of Nadal as he raced to a 6-1 6-2 victory in 73 minutes, giving the world number one his 60th Tour title and a 24th victory over his long-term rival.
After saving an early break point, the world number one never looked back and pulled off some stunning winners that left Nadal watching in awe.
He converted a second match point to secure the title and Nadal sung the praises of the new champion.
"I played against a player who did everything perfect," he said. "I don't know anybody who played tennis like this ever.
"When I say perfect, it's not one thing in particular. It's everything. If not, it's not perfect.
"Since I know this sport I never saw somebody playing at this level. So I just congratulate him and that's it.
"I know I can do a few things better, but the real thing is, with these conditions playing during the night and with the feeling of the ball here, it's so difficult to have chances against him playing like this."
Despite his final defeat, the week in Qatar represented a good start to the year for Nadal and he hopes to be at a level in 2016 to give Djokovic a closer battle.
He added: "Today, he's better than me. We will see in two weeks or we will see in five months.
"The only thing that you can do is wait that the opponent is not playing like this all the time. It is difficult to play like this all the time. It's obvious. I am going to wait for my moment."
